I take this opportunity of referring also to my Despatches No. 355 of the 21st. October, 1910, and No. 47 of the 3rd. of last February. In the former I enquired whether the Imperial Government was prepared to take over the Shanghai Post Office Buildings from this Government at a sum of $46,258.51, being their value as assessed by Messrs. Tarrant and Morriss. In the latter I enquired whether the sum of $3,185.65 being the value of the furniture and other properties of the Hongkong Government in charge of His Bri- -tannic Majesty's Postal Agents in China would be placed to the credit of this Government by the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury. To neither of these Despatches have I yet received a definite reply and I shall be obliged if a settle- -ment of the whole outstanding amount of $76,444.16 can be effected before the end of this year.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

Governor,&c..
